- I have not used the new drivers per se, but I am using a pre-release
- beta of them (I helped Joel test the new drivers). They work fine for
- me in DOS and windows full-screen sessions, provided I take the
- following steps:
-
- 1. I use the SVGA.PMI file included. Just replace your
- existing one with this, then reboot.
-
- 2. Every time I boot OS/2, the FIRST thing I must do is to
- open a full-screen DOS window. I can then close it
- immediately if I want. This seems to guarantee that I
- don't get the "twinkle" effect in DOS full-screens.
-
- NOTE: having any DOS session auto-open (e.g. because it was
- open when I shut down) doesn't seem to prevent the
- "twinkling", even if the very next thing I do is open
- a full-screen DOS session.
-
- If the first thing I do is to open a windowed session (DOS or
- OS/2) then I always get the "twinkle" effect.
-
- I still get the "twinkle" effect in full-screen OS/2 sessions. Nothing
- seems to prevent that. I presume this is a bug in the OS/2 screen
- switching code.
-
- I am using a 1Mb Wonder XL on a no-name 486/33 clone.
