- I just reinstalled OS/2 about 10 min. ago. (just added an extra
- 8 megs of memory and wanted to start off with a fresh and clean
- HD) After I installed all the patches, I noticed that there is a
- directory called "OS!2_2.0_D". I am not sure whether I saw this
- directory before I installed the kernal patch. Can I delete this?
- There appear to be some other directories/files in this particular
- directory. I renamed it to something else and the computer
- immediately hung after getting out of the OS2-full-screen session.
- Yet, when I did a cold-boot, everything started up fine and there
- were no error messages or anything. Does anyone know what is
- the point of this directory? (reason i ask is because the "0_D"
- part sort of resembles "OLD")
-
- Another question I have on my mind is the question of optimizing
- or defragmentizing the HD with utilities such as Pctools or
- equivalent. I know that this cannot be done with the HPFS. But
- if I am using the FAT setup, can I optimize the HD while I'm
- in a stand-alone Dos 5.0 session without messing up the extended
- attributes that are suppose to exist even under the FAT?
-
- Oh, almost forgot, although this has nothing to do with OS/2, I'm
- sure someone out there has added one of those fans which are
- suppose to cool the CPU. My question is, do those fans blow
- air toward the cpu or do they suck air from the cpu?
-
- Thus far, I am quite please with the OS, although the startup
- appear to be quite slow (compared with Win 3.1, [please
- don't start a discussion on what I just said....]); however,
- everythingelse seems to work a lot faster. (before the additional
- memory, I was still in the 4 meg world...))
-
- Well, hopefully someone will have some answers to my questions.
