- I have two questions about the ATI card I just purchased and would appreciate
- any comments.
-
- 1. When I used the accompanying diagnostic program ("test") in a DOS full
- screen session, it reported 3 error messages: subsystem (14203), ram
- (14206) and post ram examination (14216) failures. Is this normal when
- the test is under OS/2? The self-testing during system boot-up is O.K.,
- however. Oh, I did run SVGA ON first before the testing.
-
- 2. I installed the bus mouse coming with the card and set every IO bus to
- 16 bit (or auto selection) for power-up settings. After that, the
- modem, which used to work with another SVGA card (Zymos), failed to
- respond. I know this could be due to address or interrupt conflicts
- although OS/2 did not report this kind of error. Adjusting the
- switches on the modem to set it from com3 to com1 did not help. Now,
- the temporary solution to this is to pull out the multi IO card,
- which provides 2 com port, 1 game port and 1 parallel port. Although
- I don't need this IO card now (since I use the bus mouse), I may
- need it for a printer in the future.
-
- BTW, I am very impressed by this ATI card's performance. The Zymos card is
- simply no comparison.
