- I have a MFM hard drive very much like Mr. Smith's (I think it was him, I
- don't have the post) relative. I installed APAR PJ04045, IBM1S506.ADD.
- My system got about 10 times faster. This patch is in file
- /pub/os2/2.0/patches/ibm506.zoo on ftp-os2.nmsu.edu.
-
- The thing is, this patch is surrounded by warnings not to use it unless you
- have the problem. Well, I didn't know I had a problem. I thought OS/2 was
- supposed to take 10 minutes to boot and 3 hours to install. It's not.
-
- I would suggest that anyone with an MFM or RLL drive think about this. I am
- very grateful to Mr. Sipples for the answer and Mr. Smith for the critical
- question.
