- I'm butting head-on into a problem with running Windows on the
- HP Vectra QS/20, of which our department has a lot. After boosting memory
- past 1MB and loading DOS into High Memory Windows behaves irregularly. It
- gets really bad after loading the ethernet drivers and the Novell netware
- shell, until Windows just craps out for no reason at all.
-
- The problem with HIMEM indicates it may be a problem with the A20 gate. Has
- anybody out there upgraded the keyboard controller on a QS/20 to version KF
- as per recommended procedure and gotten relief from the problems that plague
- those of us who have Vectras and other non-compatible IBM compatibles when
- running Windows, especially in complex installations with networks? Anybody
- tried upgrading the BIOS to a more current version and gotten some relief
- from flakiness?
-
- Thanks in advance,
- Loren
