- I had the same problem. Apparently, Win 3.1 is much more sensitive to
- certain hardware problems than previous versions.
- In my case I get this error message very often when I access a floppy drive,
- especially when using Central Point Backup for Windows. I finally figured
- out that I can avoid it by changing my memory configuration. I have an
- older 386SX with interleaved memory. When I disable interleaving,
- everything works fine but the machine is a little slower. Apparently, Win
- 3.1 is trying to access memory before it has benn refreshed. I haven't
- called Microsoft yet, but I heard that in similar cases they said there was
- nothing they could or would do. Maybe I'll call after all .....
