  23. I've been having the same sort of problems, where sometimes the
  24. hard drive will sit and spin with the drive activity light on,
  25. then get a controller reset and work fine, under Linux.
  26.  
  27. I've seen the proposed kernel hack, and with a delay of 1000 the
  28. timeouts happen only once in a blue moon, but the disk seems to be
  29. significantly slower.

  31. Here's the real bad thing: A friend of mine has a 7213A also, and
  32. he's even getting drive hangs IN DOS!  This is a 386-25, with
  33. a seagate 85-megger as master.  Mine is a 386-40, Forex chipset,
  34. no way to change the bus speed, but the manual says it is 8 MHz
  35. with a 386-40 in place.  He's also tried two similar but different
  36. controllers, with no luck.

  38. Anybody know anything about maxtor 7213A's hanging, especially
  39. in DOS?
