  13. Whenever I try to compile a 0.97xxx kernel (0.97p1, 0.97p1.5, 0.97p2, 
  14. 0.97p3 ,0.97p4) while running a 0.97xxx kernel I get an error that 
  15. stops the compilation.

  17. These are the type of errors I get:

  19.     ld: premature end of file in strings of "somefile".o
  20.   or 
  21.     gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 6
  22.   or 
  23.     gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 11
  24.  
  25. I have tried with gcc 2.2.2 and 2.2.2d and I also tried disabling
  26. my swap partition, all with no changes.

  28. However, compiling any 0.97xxx kernel while running kernel 0.96cp2 runs
  29. just fine.

  31. My system is a 33Mhz 486, 8 megs of RAM and IDE disks.
