  18. "No need"?  To the best of my knowledge one must leave periods and hyphens
  19. *in* because the same sequence of letters and digits with a period or hyphen
  20. dropped could be someone else's GEmail ID.

  22. Unless GEnie has recently changed its software or policies, if your
  23. correspondent on GEnie claims to have a username that includes a space, get
  24. out the sodium pentathol.  Last I knew, GEnie mail ID's had to be twelve
  25. characters long at the most and to consist of letters (insensitive to case),
  26. digits, periods, and hyphens; the first character must be a letter.  I don't
  27. remember the minimum length.
