- [Feels sort of funny posting a message like that after returning from a
- Renaisance Festival :-) ]
-
- Anyway, while looking for alternate mail interfaces which could be used
- by short-time users who are not computer literate, I stumbled on the
- message that appeared in comp.unix.ultrix that referenced "pine". This
- afternoon, I found the time to ftp the sources from ftp.cac.washington.edu
- and compile it. After playing with it (and I will not review it here),
- I will say that the MIME capability, which allows the send to attach
- non-ascii files, and the receiver to seperate that file from the message
- or, in the case of an image, view it, would be a very welcome addition
- to the new, rumored release of elm.
-
- Not sure (at this point) if I would use pine for my "users who are just
- passing though on their way to Australia", but the pico editor, used as
- the message composer by pine, seems like a good alternative to vi as
- the message "composer".
