  16. OF COURSE a standard is needed.  I don't think that was ever in doubt.  That is, after all, why the ISO convened a committee to create a document intended to standardize the language.

  20. This is, of course, the REAL question.  My personal opinion is that it is not.  I'm not THAT hard up for a set of portable I/O modules.

I'm pretty sure that Mr. Dotzel would be more than happy to sell me a copy of an implementation of a library based upon the current draft of the ISO standard, but I get the impression (despite the fact, or maybe BECAUSE OF the fact that he never mentions prices) that it would be priced well out of my league.

  24. Perhaps the GNU Modula-2 compiler will have something interesting in it.  (Perhaps not.)
