- We have recently purchased a cisco IGS Bridge/Router. Currently it is
- configured as a transparent bridge (ethernet - ethernet). IP Routing has
- been turned off.
-
- We are trying to determine the bridge's effectiveness and I need some help
- interpreting the output of the 'show bridge' command.
-
- In particular, what do the two fields 'RX count' and 'TX count' mean?
-
- The manual states (page 20-31):
- RX count Displays count of the number of frames received from that
- address.
-
- TX count Displays count the number of frames sent to that address.
-
-
- Does 'RX count' display *all* packets received from an address, or only
- those forwarded through the bridge? If it indicates all packets received,
- how many were forwarded, and how many were not? If only those forwarded,
- is it possible to determine the total number of packets received from an
- address?
-
- 'TX count' seems pretty straight-forward.
-
-
- Any replies would be helpful, as well as any suggestions as to key bridge
- parameters to watch. (We're very new at this)
