  14. Several users on our campus have finally received their Gateway 2000
  15. TelePath modems and I thought I'd share what problems we've encountered
  16. for those considering their purchase.

  18. The modem does not pass a serial BREAK signal regardless of what S82 is
  19. set to (3,7, or 128) or what n value is used with AT\Kn  (AT\K5 should
  20. send a BREAK in sequence with any transmitted data.)  Fortunately, it
  21. is possible to use +++ AT\B ATO to send a break, but this is SLOW and
  22. results in the +++ also being transmitted to the remote application.

  24. MS-Kermit 3.11 and 3.12 don't get along at all with this modem.  They
  25. hang on any attempt to connect to the modem above 19kbps.  I've gotten
  26. version 2.32/A to talk fine at 2400, 19,200, 38k and 57kbps, but if I
  27. run an external comm program such as DSZ, Kermit will lock up when I 
  28. next try to connect.  Neither Gateway's tech. support, nor the Kermit
  29. people have a solution at this time.  Joe Doupnik (author of Kermit)
  30. tells me he has not been able to get the necessary info. to fix the
  31. problem from Gateway, or the Co. that makes the modem for them.
