  14.     I am at the end of my rope with the modem I purchased last  
  15. month.  I can some times get it to call the schools VAX, but after I  
  16. get connected it get nothing!!!

  18. 1. Yes, I do have a VAX account
  19. 2. I have the modem set to the correct variables (N 8 1 etc....)
  20. 3. Yes, I put the modem into the computer
  21. 4. Yes, I set the dip switches correctly for each COM and IRQ setting

  23. I am running a:    IBM clone 286 (PC Express)
  24.             2 mb
  25.             Stacker 1.?
  26.             SVGA Paradise
  27.             M.S. Mouse (Serial)  Com 1
  28.             Sound Blaster     IRQ 7
  29.             Dos 5.0
  30.             MX - 2400 modem by Calpac
  31.             Procomm or Zcom software

  33.     When the modem is set to COM1 and IRQ4 the first line in  
  34. termianl mode shows ATZ S=11.  I can dial the VAX, but after  
  35. connecting...NOTHING!  When I remove the mouse and then boot the  
  36. computer the software freezes.  When the modem is set to COM1 IRQ3 I  
  37. get the same thing.
  38.     When I set the modem to COM2 and IRQ3 or IRQ4, the software  
  39. freezes up as soon as it boots.

  41.     Even at its best, I am able to dial the VAX, connect, but I  
  42. receive nothing.  The modem seems to freeze.  I can't even hang up.   
  43. I am unable to run the tests (typing ATZ, etc.) that the manual  
  44. suggests.
