- I've recently moved into a new place and have found that my modem now
- refuses to hang up when the carrier is lost. The modem is an 80data
- 2400 baud hays compatible box. I've been in two other places with
- it and have never had a problem. When the other end dropped the carrier
- my modem would hang up. Now, when the other end drops the carrier
- my modem just keeps talking. My terminal fills up with garbage, and
- resets itself several times.. etc.. It'll keep talking to the dead line
- until I either +++ ath, turn the modem off, or pick up the other phone
- in the house.
-
- I'd like to know if anyone else has ever had this problem and how I
- might go about fixing it. I suspect it might be some sort of
- impedance or voltage problem but am not sure. One of the things I
- normally do is set ats10=2 and leave call waiting on so it disconnects
- quickly when someone calls. This also no longer works. The BEEP
- from call waiting kills the connection and the other end drops off
- but my modem just keeps talking.. etc.
-
- Any help at all would be appreciated.
