  32. I suggest you hold onto the rasberry until you find out what kind of
  33. throughput you can get without PEP.

  35. While some people have reported getting good results with v32/v32bis
  36. over long distance links, I don't believe there is any general rule.

  38. In my case, v32bis wouldn't make a reliable CONNECT and v32 was too
  39. slow. Even PEP was only giving about 500 CPS but the great advantage
  40. of this protocol is that you can tune it for various line condtions
  41. and now I get 1,000 CPS on my link to the U.S.

  47. True enough. Note that except for the 300,000 yen ($2,400) T2500L,
  48. Telebits aren't authorized in Japan and neither are Hayes, or
  49. USRobotics. Yet these kinds of modems appear on many/most(all?)
  50. dial-up systems.
