  19. Highest available standard modems are V.32 bis at 14.4k.  With V.42 bis
  20. data compression, this is somewhat higher.  Your mileage will vary.

  22. There is another standard in the works, V.fast which will go to 28.8k
  23. uncompressed.  Some manufacturers have jumped the gun and released their
  24. flavours of the "standard".  No doubt compression will be an option.
