- Hi,
- Most voice samplers operate at a standard sampling rate of 8KHz and
- use 8-bit quantization, resulting in 28.8MBytes to store one hour of
- speech.
- My company, Analogical Systems, has implemented a 4800 bps CELP
- vocoder based upon the Ariel PC-56 DSP card for the PC (this card has
- a Motorola DSP56001 on it). The resulting compression ratio is 13.3:1,
- requiring only 2.16MBytes to store one hour of speech.
- Demonstration systems (including the Ariel PC-56 board) are
- available from Analogical Systems for only $595. The demo systems
- have a real-time synthesizer (playback) and non-real-time analyzer
- (recorder).
