  22. Two versions of the ICOT Go Playing Game System `GOG' are now available from
  23. the ICOT Free Software system.  I append the current ICOT Free Software
  24. Newsletter (approx 150 pages) -- see items 52 and 53.  It also covers other 
  25. programs.

  27. From a recent(ish) paper on this system it was not clear that they had
  28. developed a system which was comparable with the current go-playing programs
  29. available for PCs -- their main interest seemed to have been in AI techniques.

  42. [FTP Release for Domestic Area]

  44.     Since the first release of ICOT Free Software on 7th August,
  45. anonymous FTP has been available only from abroad.  On 7th September,
  46. anonymous FTP from domestic (within Japan) becomes also available.  
  47. ICOT Free Software programs are obtainable through anonymous FTP from 
  48. our ftp-server machine:

  53. [How to Get IFS Programs through FTP]

  55.      The following is the standard way to get programs from the FTP-
  56. server at ICOT.

  58.   1)  ftp ftp.icot.or.jp
  59.         Connect to ICOT FTP-server machine by FTP command.
  60.   2)  Name: anonymous
  61.       Password:
  62.         Login with the user name ``anonymous'', and input your
  63.         mail address as the password.
  64.   3)  FTP> cd ifs
  65.         Enter into the directory ``ifs''.
  66.   4)  FTP> get README
  67.         Get README file first.  This file contains overall
  68.         information on the ICOT Free Software.
  69.   5)  Find out desired files by referring to the directory structure
  70.         shown in README file.
  71.   6)  FTP> binary
  72.         Set transfer mode of FTP to image (binary).
  73.   7)  FTP> get XXXXX.tar.Z

  82. machine at ICOT, and more than 1000 files have been transferred as

  167.     PDSS (PIMOS Development Support System) is a system to execute KL1
  168. programs on BSD UNIX workstations, and compatibility with the KL1 system
  169. on the Multi-PSI/PIM is preserved except in the implementation method and
  170. execution efficiency.  Executing large scale KL1 programs on PDSS
  171. directly is difficult because of several constraints, but relatively
  172. small programs or parts of large programs are executable on PDSS.

  175. September.
