  13. Although I was unable to follow the entire thread of debate, I understand
  14. that there's been some discussion about the AI winter manifesting itself
  15. as a slowing down of hiring people for AI jobs.  My impression is that, while
  16. there are certainly as many people graduating with AI degress, people who 
  17. already have AI jobs are staying put because of the recession.  Consequently,
  18. employers may not be advertising as much, since new graduates are hired via
  19. campus recruiters.  This is what I've observed from resumes we've received. 
  20. We get a lot from fresh-outs, almost none from people with 3-5 years
  21. experience.
  22. We also get a lot from people who I'd call thinkers, and not many from people
  23. who I'd call doers.  And given the requirement to show results and show them
  24. soon, doers are what *we* need.

  26. I'd be interested in hearing from people who are job hunting in AI to
  27. see what kinds of qualifications are out there.
