- Because I remained confused about printing fonts with a laser printer even
- after I enquired on this list a few weeks ago, let me explain what I have
- learned to the other non-expert users who read this list.
-
- In fact, with NB 4 and an HP IIIP printer without buying any extra hardware
- from HP or any software for producing fonts--using the "internal" fonts that
- come with the printer, I found that I can print in Times and Helvetica (ff 5
- and ff 4)and get proportional spacing. I can also give different pt commands
- and change the size (the scale, in computer printer mumbo jumbo) of the print
- on the paper.
-
- The HP IIIP costs U>S>$889.00 to faculty and staff members of educational
- institutions, plus shipping and any local taxes. (I was amazed to find UPS
- dropped it on our front porch swing while no one was home!)
-
- Like others on this list, I have not fully converted to NB 4. On my Ohio State
- computer I still run NB 3 so I do not have time at the moment to learn new
- tricks: I must finish
- revising a textbook by September 30.
