  18. The Chemical Information Division of the American Chemical Society
  19. is in the process of completing a salary survey (I know because
  20. I'm getting the final draft out shortly).  In that survey we
  21. tried to get at the level of a position in two ways.  First
  22. we asked what were the primary tasks of the position, including
  23. two categories called management and supervison.  We were able to
  24. sort and get some good statistics on job function.  Second, we tried
  25. to get a position level by asking the respondents to choose a job
  26. title out of a list.  Unfortunately most of the respondents chose
  27. other - and gave us a different title.  We will be working on this
  28. question for the next edition of the survey.
