- In article <IBM-MAIN%92091413590046@RICEVM1.RICE.EDU>, postman Bill Wylbur
- <$WYL@PCCJES2.BITNET> says:
- >We DO have the Innovation SAR product to bail us out if both banks of dasd
- >go down the tubes but my question to this lists diverse sub-scribers is this,
- >has ANYONE DONE THIS SUCCESSFULLY and is the folks at BIG BLUE nolonger
- >skiddish about moving their dasd farms.

- As Leonard has already pointed out, the DSF manual says an INSTALL (i.e.
- full initialization) is required for 3380K after they have been moved.
- HOWEVER, last Christmas we moved our computer room, including several
- strings of 3380Ks, about two miles. IBM did the move, rehooked up
- everything, ran their diagnostics, and said the Ks (as well as the rest
- of the DADD) were ok. We did not run DSF against them and we did not
- have problems.
-
- IBM told us ahead of time that they did not expect any problems.
- Management planned the move without allowing time for reinitialization
- of the Ks. Tech support fully expected the worse to happen and to have
- to initialize the Ks but Murphy was on vacation.
