  11. Be aware that the data reblocking occurs on the 3480s (and the base
  12. model 3490s) only when IDRC is being used for the block written to
  13. tape.  The 3490E models (often refered to as the 36 track models) will
  14. reblock the data independent of whether the data is being compressed
  15. using IDRC.  I guess IBM found it easier to switch than fight all the
  16. applications out there using small blocksizes.
