- FWIW, I think the standard lenght of a cartridge tape is 525 feet, not counting
- for the leader/trailer amounts. There are extended length tapes available from
- various vendors (i.e. Memorex offers a 675 foot tape).

- As for the 3490/E, it is out of my league. I am glad that we even got cartridge
- drives. However, our Memorex cartridge drives (made by Fujitsu, I think) do
- have a data compression option, implemented in a proprietary hardware format.
