- Learning and Instructional Psychologist
-
- Through the National Research Council (NRC) Research Awards
- Program, the U. S. Army Research Institute (ARI) in Alexandria,
- Virginia, is seeking a one-year term (with extension possibility)
- Postdoctoral Research Fellow in learning and instructional
- psychology. The main responsibility of this position is to derive
- prescriptive implications for the development of training systems
- from the review of various learning theories and research findings
- that are basically descriptive in nature. Thus, the successful
- candidate should have substantial knowledge in learning theories
- and some familiarity with instruction or training. The ability to
- quickly review various forms of learning theory literature and to
- write analytical abstracts is important. Knowledge and skill in
- computer technology, including computer-based instruction, and
- experience in teaching or instructional development would be
- helpful, but not required. Since the task requires not only to
- analytically organize the results of literature reviews, but also
- to coordinate related ideas and opinions of several learning and
- instructional psychologists at ARI, willingness to listen to others
- and reflect their valid views in structuring and performing the project
- is critical. The final product of this project is expected to be a
- book, while journal articles and conference papers may be produced
- as the interim reports. This fellow will work for the Automated
- Instructional Systems Technical Area in the ARI Training Systems
- Research Division that currently employs more than a dozen learning
- and training psychologists. Salary will be commensurate with
- experience and qualifications according to the NRC standard.
- Those who are interested in this position and would like to be pre-
- evaluated, are encouraged to send a vita, including telephone
- numbers of references, to Dr. Robert J. Seidel, U. S. Army Research
- Institute, 5001 Eisenhowever Ave., Alexandria, VA 22333-5600.
- Samples of research reports will be helpful for the evaluation.
