  13. All of us who use the services of the Internet know the value but to
  14. some of the administrators at technical schools, the cost of the
  15. internet connection seems worthless!!!  So I have been asked to assist
  16. in gathering more information that they might deem important enough
  17. for the connection.

  19. The state Technical schools in South Carolina are all linked with their
  20. own network but it doesn't connect to anything else!  Therefore with my
  21. account at the University of South Carolina, I cannot send email to
  22. my colleagues at the tech schools.
  23.  
  24. The tech schools are all connected by the State Board for Technical
  25. Education.  Some of their employees have discussed that the internet
  26. connection would provide access to databases, bitnet lists and other
  27. resources but the administrators still do not see the need as they
  28. see their system as sufficient and providing the needs for state
  29. reporting options which they feel they would lose security if they
  30. used an internet system instead...

  32. This is a brief background that I received at a meeting on Wed..
  33. we'd appreciate any comments, suggestions.
