  14. An organizational meeting will be held August 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the
  15. Seminar Room of The William & Ida Friday Continuing Education Center in
  16. Chapel Hill to discuss the possibility of developing a "Free-Net" for the
  17. Research Triangle area.

  19. The Friday Center is located approximately three miles east of the
  20. UNC-Chapel Hill campus on Laurel Hill Parkway, just off Highway 54 East
  21. (Raleigh Road). If you are coming in from Interstate 40 on 54, it is on
  22. the left, past the Mobile Mart and before Slug's restaurant. There are
  23. lots of signs. Go in the front door, down the second hall on the right to
  24. the end of the hall. We are meeting in the Seminar Room.

  28. Show video describing the Heartland (Peoria) Free-Net (15 minutes)
  29. Agenda changes (5 minutes)
  30. Introductions: who we are and why we are here (10 minutes)
  31. Work done so far:
  32.      How the Free-Net idea got started in RTP -- Bill Hutchins (5 minutes)
  33.      Incorporated, tax exempt, cost estimates, related projects -- 
  34.         Judy Hallman (10 minutes)
  35. Determine committees needed, volunteers for each, and time and location
  36. for first meeting for each (30 minutes)
  37.    Possible committees:
  38.      Hardware/software
  39.      System design/user interface -- includes planning the database and
  40.         finding the "sysops"
  41.      Staff/facilities
  42.      Funding
  43.      Publicity/administration/training
  44. General discussion and plans for next meeting (15 minutes)
  45. Repeat video for late arrivals (15 minutes)
  46. Adjourn before 7:30.
