  40. OK, I've long refrained from getting into this discussion - but as it gets  
  41. sillier by the hour, here's my two cents:
  42. Surveys showing married men being happier than unmarried man are wrong  
  43. because they never interview me (at least the last part of the sentence is  
  44. true). To put down the other half of the equation: I don't mind living  
  45. half as long as the average married mathematician (I'm a physicist, BTW),  
  46. as long as I don't have to marry!

  48. And Janet, we seem to have read the same newspaper reports :-) The amazing  
  49. thing about them is that they imply that people ARE getting happier as  
  50. they marry - I've never understood why ...  Now if someone could dig up  
  51. the real references, to enable us to shoot down this misuse of statistics
  52. :-)
