You might try checking the technical libraries for copies of teh ASM
Metals Handbook set.  Volume 5 of the 9th Edition or Volume 2 of the
8th edition deal with Cleaning , Finishing and Coating metals, and
include a section on Porcelain Enameling.  To quote "Porcelain enamels
are glass coatings applied primarily to products made of sheet steel,
cast iron, or aluminum, for improving appearance and protecting the
metal surface.  Porcelain enamels are distinguished from other ceramic
coatings by their predominantly vitreous nature ..."  It goes on to
give frit compositions for enamels for various metals, methods of frit
preparation, and general information about the industrial processes
for enamelling.
