  13. I have a question about modems. My knowledge of modems
  14. is limited to simply using them ( besides knowing in theory
  15. what  they do !).

  19. Is there a particular kind of hardware protocol/ and or modem
  20. made by a particular manufacturer(s) that has a high tolerance
  21. for noise  in the phone line.

  23. I'm interested in taking a 2400 baud modem to India, where
  24. the telephones lines are quite "noisy". A modem with heavy-duty
  25. error checking is probabably what I'm looking for.
