  16.     MILWAUKEE (UPI) -- Queer Nation Milwaukee Tuesday formed a Queer
  17. Scouts working group to boycott the United Way -- the largest funder of
  18. the Boy Scouts of America.
  19.     A statement released by the Milwaukee homosexual-rights group said
  20. its working group joins the growing national boycott of United Way
  21. because the Boy Scouts ban homosexuals from its membership and
  22. leadership.
  23.     ``We believe that the Boy Scouts' policy of banning Queer children is
  24. nothing short of child abuse and that this practice should not be funded
  25. by an agency that purports to care about and support all children,'' the
  26. statement said.
  27.     Queer Scouts urged all Milwaukee residents not to give money to the
  28. city's United Way chapter until it stops funding the Boy Scouts or
  29. forces the Boy Scouts to change its policy.
  30.     The group also urged residents not to support any organizations that
  31. discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation.
  32.     Milwaukee's United Way allocated $760,000 to the Boy Scouts last
  33. year.
  34.     Queer Scouts will present its demands to United Way officials during
  35. a meeting later this week, the statement said.
