  13. The R4 Compressor started singing a rather loud obtrustive tone that
  14. would actually make the inside of the car resonate. I figured that one
  15. of the internal bearings had gone bad, so I replaced the compressor. When
  16. I removed the front casing off of the unit, I found no visible damage.

  18. Now this type of compressor has four pistons and a single crankshaft. What
  19. I want to know is how do you disassemble the blasted thing. There is only
  20. one entry into the unit, from the front. I have a feeling that the crankshaft
  21. itself must separate into two parts, but I am unable to determine how to do
  22. it.

  24. Any KNOWLEDGEABLE people in this newsgroup who have attempted such repairs
  25. and been successful, please tell me how to take this blasted thing apart!
