- The R4 Compressor started singing a rather loud obtrustive tone that
- would actually make the inside of the car resonate. I figured that one
- of the internal bearings had gone bad, so I replaced the compressor. When
- I removed the front casing off of the unit, I found no visible damage.
-
- Now this type of compressor has four pistons and a single crankshaft. What
- I want to know is how do you disassemble the blasted thing. There is only
- one entry into the unit, from the front. I have a feeling that the crankshaft
- itself must separate into two parts, but I am unable to determine how to do
- it.
-
- Any KNOWLEDGEABLE people in this newsgroup who have attempted such repairs
- and been successful, please tell me how to take this blasted thing apart!
-
- Thanks
- Dan
