- Sorry Dave, it is definitely a vector quantity but it is dependent
- on not just the theoretical uN force (friction force = mu * Normal force)
- but also on the adhesive properties of the pad/metal interface.
- The more interface you have, the more force (to a first approx.) since
- adhesion is proportional to surface area.
