If you are a United States citizen living abroad, and you want to vote in
the upcoming Federal (presidential) election in November, you can get an
absentee ballot by first writing or calling your ambassador (ADDRESSES AND
PHONE NUMBERS BELOW). Even if your permanent address is not in the US, your
ballot will counted in the state in which you last had residence before
leaving the US. You need to ask for Federal Postcard Form 76 to register or
to request the required state registration forms. Be sure to mention the
state and town in which you last voted so that you can be given the proper
address for the postcard. You have a right to vote in Federal elections
even if you are still subject to state and local taxes while you are
abroad. To vote in a state election, you might be subject to state taxes.
