- What I want to be able to do is to set up ONE emacs on ONE
- machine which loads and saves files from ANY machine, and
- handles mail/News.
-
- I'd like this functionality as well. It's seems like like a waste
- of CPU/IO time to start up a new emacs process on a remote host
- when I have a perfectly idle one running on my workstation.
-
- To edit remote files, use ange-ftp.tar.Z. For mail, use vm-4.41.tar.Z.
- For news, use gnus-3.14.1.tar.Z. Solve all your problems by browsing
- archive.cis.ohio-state.edu:pub/gnu/emacs/elisp-archive/packages/*.
-
- don't forget to use gnuclient/gnuserv instead of emacsclient/server.
- these are integrated well with ange-ftp to let you initiate editing
- files on remote hosts quite transparently. i use it all the time.
