  12. Our current news server, a Sun 690MP system, is not performing
  13. satisfactorily as both a general use timesharing system and as our campus
  14. news server (we use nntp and c-news).  Is anyone using a DECstation
  15. 5000/200 (or 240 for that matter) as a news server?  We have about 7 or 8
  16. sites off campus that we have bi-directional feeds with, and we typically
  17. have 5-20 nntpd daemons running for people on campus reading news.  The
  18. people reading news are using trn, xrn or nn on Unix systems, some Mac
  19. newsreader I can't remember the name of, and trumpet on PCs.

  21. I'd be interested to hear any reports of using a DECstation as a news
  22. server, as well as any problems compiling the software listed above.

  24. We have to move news somewhere other than the 690 as the complaints from
  25. both the 690 users and the people reading news are getting very loud.
