- I can't get A/UX 3.0 to install with my NEC CDR-73M
- (same as CDR-74) CDROM drive. After some superficial
- research, I heard the following:
-
- 1. Apple support center: "All of the Macintosh-compatible CDROM drives
- will install A/UX 3.0 except NEC's. We are still trying to
- find out why."
-
- 2. Apple technical person: "We know which CDROM drives work with
- A/UX but we don't want any lists floating around because
- the vendor may eventually get their CDROM to work with A/UX.
- We only officially endorse the Apple CDROM drive (Sony mechanism).
-
- 3. Friendly net person: "NEC drives still don't
- comply with the Mode Select when it says to speak only in 512 byte
- blocks thereafter until reset....it's NEC's fault."
-
-
- Hosed in A/UX-land,
