- I need some help getting slip to work properly. First the setup:
-
- Server: RS6000. I set the port to 38400. I am using a ViVa 9600 baud modem
- V.32/V.42/V.42bis (Made by Computer Peripherals, Inc.)
-
- Client: Wollongong TCP/IP. I am using the slip driver. This one also has
- a ViVa 9600 baud modem.
-
- And now the problem: When I telnet from the client to the server everything
- works fine. I can ping the server, ftp, and telnet.
-
- But when I telnet to the machine I get a slight delay
- between when I type a character and when it shows up
- on the screen. This is very annoying (sp??).
-
- If I connect the two machines with a direct serial cable,
- I don't have this problem. So it looks like to has
- to be something with the modems. But what???
-
- Any one have an experience with a setup like this? Any insight would greatly
- be appreciated.
