  15. Beta version 2.01 of lsof is available via anonymous ftp from
  16. j.cc.purdue.edu (128.210.9.2) in pucc/lsof2B.tar.Z.  Lsof (for LiSt
  17. Open Files) displays information on files opened by processes in
  18. versions of Unix for AIX 3.[12], ETAV*, DYNIX 3.0.12 and 3.1, HP-UX
  19. 7.x and 8.x, NeXTStep 2.[01] and SunOS 4.1.[12].

  21. Version 2 of lsof adds support for: root and parent directories;
  22. streams in ETAV and SunOS; text references in ETAV; and text and
  23. library references in AIX.  The sources have been substantially
  24. reorganized.

  26. Version 1 of lsof first appeared in volume 25, number 2 of
  27. comp.sources.unix.  (Its latest revision, 1.09, is also available
  28. on j.cc.purdue.edu in pucc/lsof.tar.Z.)  Lsof is a successor to
  29. ofiles and fstat, also distributed in comp.sources.unix.  Lsof
  30. adds NFS support and recognition of many file reference nodes --
  31. cdrnodes, devnodes, fifonodes, gnodes, inodes, rnodes, snodes,
  32. specnodes, tmpnodes and vnodes.  It recognizes FIFOs, multiplexed
  33. files, Unix and Internet sockets.  These features have been
  34. propagated to version 2.
