- Okay, it's like this:
- Backed up /home.
- Backed it up again.
- Tested backup integrity by bar -tf'ing.
- Ran format to repartition so as to give space to /export.
- Did newfs, etc.
- Attempted to restore /home.
- 6th 150M tape turned out to be a DC600. Failed 20M in.
- (where did it come from?!)
- No problem, out come 2nd set of backups.
- bar refuses to read tape: "Insert Volume 2"(3/4/5/etc)
- Take tapes to another system, attempt to read. Same result.
- Attempt to cat tape6, /dev/rst0 into file. Dies 20M in...
- attempt to mt -f /dev/rst0 fsf ... No go.
-
- So, what obvious solution am I missing?
- How do I force a sun SCSI tape drive to read past the problem section?
- Can it be done? If I, say, mount A SCSI tape on a braindead OS'd machine
- that ignores(can't handle?) the errors, will I get the files back?
- Where do I find this B.D. machine? Why is my hair turning grey?
- When was the last time I had any sleep? ... Aaaarghhh...
-
- Any advice/pointers gratefully received,
- Jonathan
