- I have a tar tape which was written on a Silicon Graphics system. I need
- to untar it on my Sparc 2. When I try just a normal tar, I get a directory
- checksum error. I have seen this problem before. It has to do with SGI
- writing its integers with the byte order different than the Sun. When
- I last ran into this error, someone a bit more knowledgeable in UNIX than
- I ran tar through a filter to unscramble the byte order. I have no idea
- what utility he used however. If anyone knows the magic words that I
- need to execute to read this tar tape, I would greatly appreciate the
- help!
