- Hello.
- The NeXT serial ports are not limited to 9600 baud. The NeXT serial
- ports will run at 19200 baud and 38400 baud. The 040 can't maintain
- 38400 without hardware flow control. The situation is even worse on
- an 030 because there is no flow control and the CPU speed is so much
- slower. The 030 does at best 9600 baud.
- Not only are the serial ports slow, but doing high speed transfers
- (>= 9600 baud) greatly degrades system performance.
- If these problems are causing you grief, you might be interested
- in TTYDSP. TTYDSP is an inexpensive hardware/software product, which
- uses the DSP to drive a high performance serial port, which has none
- of the problems of the standard ones! If you'd like further information,
