- Ok folks, this would seem to be a FAQ but I couldn't find it. I am
- trying to get a repackaged Exabyte 8500 to work with my station.
- Hardware configuration: NeXTStation mono, 200MB internal disk, 700MB
- external disk and (troublesome) Exabyte 8500 sold by Falcon Systems.
-
- Software: Vanilla 2.1
-
- Symptoms: A restore fails from a tape with I/O errors as does a tar
- to a different tape. dd using the tape as input file also fails.
- This is using /dev/nrst0 by the way, /dev/nrst1 fails with no such
- device or address.
-
- Notes: The SCSI id is correct since the tape tries to do something as
- each operation starts. The drive works flawlessly on our SGI Iris4D.
- Upgrading to release 3.0 isn't really an option for me at the moment.
- I could, with some difficulty get hold of an Exabyte 8200 if it would
- improve things.
-
- So, folks, does anyone have a suggestion?
- Thanks in advance and all that
