- Hello Netters.
- Is it logical to say that an IBM PC machine running Windows NT will be better
- than a Macintosh running System 7.0? For the past 6 months, I have been an
- assistant to our network manager running around installing system 7.0 and
- teaching the users how to use it. I think System 7.0 is more than great
- because it gives you a lot of flexibility networking Macintoshes and requires
- litle maintainance. In fact, we tell our users to buy Macintoshes instead of
- PCs when it comes down to getting a computer. I have found out that Macintoshes
- are easier to troubleshoot and system 7.0 gives a better, cleaner support than
- System 6.0 and Windows 3.x
- The question here is whether Microsoft could come up with a Windows NT version
- that could offer the capabilities system 7.0 offers. In fact, someone told me
- that it would be better if Windows NT could offer what System 7.0 offers because
- someone could buy a PC for $1,300, run Windows NT and off he/she goes. Which
- modular Macintosh sells for $1,300, today? One might say that MacLCII sells for
- about $1,800 at a street price but compared to, say, $1,300 cost for an IBM PC
- one could go ahead and buy IBM PCs running Windows NT if he/she wants to buy
- a lot of them.
- Now, I don't know much Windows because neither I have used it extensively nor
- I ever had the need to do so. Can someone tell whether I have written here is
- something that is bound to happen? Feel free to post your opinions.
- I would hate to have my Mac loose to a PC!
