  10. I have a question for some printer/system gurus.

  12. We have a heterogeneous network consisting of a lot of Macs, a Sun, and
  13. a pc. The Macs all talk to a LaserWriter IINT through an EtherWrite
  14. box (Compatible Systems). One Mac runs system 7; the remainder of the
  15. Macs run system 6.0.8. The two Macs in question are A) a Classic with
  16. 4MB RAM and a SCSI box (Asante) to connect to our ethernet and B) an
  17. SE/30 with 5MB RAM and ethernet card (also Asante). The system 7 Mac
  18. was not even running today.

  20. When the fellow with the SE/30 prints, he finally reaches a point when
  21. the "little watch comes up" and no output issues from the LaserWriter.
  22. The only cure for this is to restart his machine (after which he will
  23. again reach this point within a number of print jobs). The Classic
  24. seems to work just fine. The SE/30 owner tells me that this happens
  25. with or without background printing on.

  27. In examining the system folder of each, I note that the SE/30 owner has
  28. AppleTalk v 57.0.3 and the classic has AppleTalk v 56. Do we need v 57.
  29. 0.3? Is this the cause of the problem? What do you suggest I do in this
  30. case? Color Quickdraw is on both machines.
