- Thanks to all for replying to my last post. Since then I have
-
- 1. rebuilt my desktop.
-
- 2. Reformatted my drive and rebuilt the system.
-
- 3. Made my desktop files visible (via ResEdit) on all volumes, thrown
- them away,
- and rebooted so that the desktop files are rebuilt from scratch.
-
- Yet my disappearing icons problem remains. It occurs only to files
- which reside on a non-system volume, yet have aliases on the system
- volume (in the menu items folder). Upon rebuild, the aliases are good.
- After the next reboot without a rebuild, the alias icons revert to the
- generic type. Moreover, the icons disappear on the volume where the
- original file resides.
-
- Has anyone else seen this problem? Has anyone fixed it?
-
- Thanks...John Cary
