- On my IIci (under 6.0.5) I have the Chicago 12 pt font installed (which
- I believe is used as the prinicpal menu font). Several programs (e.g.,
- Excel) use this font at other point sizes as well (so I assume that such
- programs are able to map to 10 or 14 pts based only on a 12 pt definition).
-
- Recently I printed a Word document, given to me on a floppy (scanned for
- virus on input), which used fonts (?) I don't have installed. The document
- printed OKAY, but since then any use by an application of Chicago at other
- than 12 pt size produces characters which do not have the uniform stroke
- width of Chicago.
-
- For example, in any pt size other than 12, two of the vertical stokes of
- a W are thin and only the third has the appropriate thickness. The 12 pt
- size displays just fine.
-
- So I'd like to understand how this happened, how to avoid it in the future,
- but most importantly, how to restore the font display to the correct format.
-
- Many thanks for any help you can give,
-
- Michael
