- Well, I'm after a postscript printer that will support more than one
- platform (specifically, Mac, IBM, and Amiga). We currently have a TI
- OmniLaser 2108. It is in very bad shape (text fuzzy, blacks are patchy
- etc) I don't know whether the machine was simply abused too long or the
- printer just isn't capable of 'good' quality print (comparable to a
- LaserWriter IINT ?).
- The choices we have so far is the new LaserWriter IIg (or IIf)
- or an OKI OL840 (cheap, but haven't seen it print yet)
- What I would like to know, is :-
- What is the OKI like ? Do you know of any other postscript printers
- that are useful ?
- I like the auto port switching capability of the Apples (the IIg
- is nice since it can be relatively easily EtherNeted. Is there software
- to support EtherTalk on a PC with an EtherNet card ?)
- Do the Apples have a parallel port or only serial ?
- Are there other printers out there with auto port switching etc
- (other emulations can also be useful, but not mandatory).
- Thanks,
- Michael
-
- PS e-mail would be appreciated, I can summarise if it is sufficiently
- requested.
