- When I bought my CDR-73 last year, Tiger had a similar deal on the CDR-72.
- They seem to be a few months ahead of other discounters. There's no
- catch - it's a real bargain if you want last year's model.
-
- NEC currently has an upgrade program. For $ 150, they will upgrade a
- CDR-73 to CDR-73M, which has the same specs as the CDR-74 (but not the
- dual dust door, only a single one. Who cares? Dust enters on the
- caddy, not through the door). So the $ 399 price for a CDR-73 is
- very cheap.
-
- I would recommend a more powerful SCSI adapter, like the Adaptec 1542B,
- if you plan any expansion beyond CD-ROM in the next year or two. But
- the Trantor/NEC SCSI products are well supported.
