  23. When I bought my CDR-73 last year, Tiger had a similar deal on the CDR-72.
  24. They seem to be a few months ahead of other discounters.  There's no
  25. catch - it's a real bargain if you want last year's model.

  27. NEC currently has an upgrade program.  For $ 150, they will upgrade a
  28. CDR-73 to CDR-73M, which has the same specs as the CDR-74 (but not the
  29. dual dust door, only a single one.  Who cares?  Dust enters on the
  30. caddy, not through the door).  So the $ 399 price for a CDR-73 is
  31. very cheap.

  33. I would recommend a more powerful SCSI adapter, like the Adaptec 1542B,
  34. if you plan any expansion beyond CD-ROM in the next year or two.  But
  35. the Trantor/NEC SCSI products are well supported.
